Cascade hops were developed in the 1950s by the USDA breeding program in Oregon and were officially released to brewers in 1972.

Named after the Cascade Mountain Range in the Pacific Northwest. Known as the most widely grown hop variety in the U.S. for many years, they remain a favorite among brewers worldwide

-Cascade hops are celebrated for their citrusy, floral, and spicy aromas, often featuring notes of grapefruit and pine.

- They add complexity to beer, making them ideal for pale ales, IPAs, and lagers.

- With alpha acid levels between 4.5%–7%, they provide moderate bitterness, offering balance without overwhelming the palate.

- Hops contain xanthohumol, a compound known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which may help combat oxidative stress.

- Historically, hops have been used for their mild sedative effects, potentially helping with anxiety, stress, and sleep disturbances
